I stick with USGI/CMI, but one of these days, I plan to try out a few Type57's. Most aftermarket mags are nothing but junk. ( I'll admit that the internet got to me on this one, but I dont want my rifle or face to find out the hard way.) I also make a habit of stayin away from military surplus ammunition from India. Be prepared for it to make a fairly big dent. (SCRUGGS : I dont have any hands on with a Fed Ord myself, so I couldnt give an opinion on it either way)īefore you purchase anything in 7.62x51mm, I'd recomend that you look at how much the ammunition will cost first, and see what kinda dent it will make in your ammo budget. ![]() The last Fed ord I seen, sold for right at 850 a couple of months ago, but I dont remember the details about who built it, or what kinda parts were used for the build, only that the barrel used was a chicom. your budget is cuttin it awful close for an M14 type, but I have seen chicoms sell for under that mark very recently.
